This program presented project management theory and best practice principles, evaluating project management strategies using real world examples. This program equipped me with skills and knowledge in leadership and management, including project planning and delivery, risk management and stakeholder management.

This program developed my knowledge of social science theory and equipped me with skills in policy analysis, policy writing, policy making and policy advocacy. These skills were supplemented by learning to understand, design and use a range of applied social research techniques.

Working with a team to identify, evaluate, prioritise and develop integrated public transport infrastructure improvements. My role includes: 

  • Managing the development of public transport infrastructure upgrade projects

  • Informing and advising decisions on investment and delivery

  • Business case development

  • Briefings, correspondence, reports and submissions

  • Liaison and collaboration with stakeholders on matters related to the planning, development, procurement and management of projects.

Advisor

PARLIAMENT OF VICTORIA

Provided policy advice and executive support. This role included:

  • Analysing bills and legislation and briefing the Member

  • Preparing parliamentary motions, speeches, speaking notes and other written statements and correspondence

  • Liaising with ministerial and parliamentary advisors, community organisations and lobby groups

  • Organising or supporting the coordination of public and private events

  • Providing high level customer service to constituents

2013-2014

Research Officer

PARLIAMENT OF AUSTRALIA

Performed research and prepared reports and briefing papers on matters related to legislation and public policy. Two major research projects were in relation to:

  • Employee ownership as a business ownership and remuneration model, which included taking an online course offered by the University of Oxford to help inform my research.

  • Economic trade zones and the advantages they could offer Australian industries.
